सिपाही विजय कुमार का जन्म तमिलनाडु के तिरूनेलवेली जिले में हुआ था । वे सेना में शामिल हुए और उन्हें मद्रास रेजिमेंट में नियुक्त किया गया। वर्ष 2016 के दौरान उनकी यूनिट जम्मू - कश्मीर के कारगिल सेक्टर में तैनात थी। इसी दौरान उनकी यूनिट को एक कठिन फील्ड कार्य सौंपा गया। सिपाही विजय ने इन चुनौतियों के लिए अपने आप को बड़े शांति और गंभीरता से मानसिक और शारीरिक रूप से तैयार किया। सिपाही विजय ने लगभग 17,500 फीट ऊंची दुर्गम चोटी पर सेवा करने की इच्छा प्रकट की। इस चोटी पर सर्दियों के दौरान 10 से 15 फुट मोटी बर्फ की परत चढ़ी रहती है इसलिए यह साल के छह महीनों के दौरान दुनिया से अलग-थलग एक दुर्गम स्थान बनी रहती है। वे इस पोस्ट में दिसम्बर 2015 में पहुंचे थे और उन्होंने वहां पर अपनी वीरता का सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन किया। 17 मार्च 2016 की रात को उनकी पोस्ट के पास एक तेज हिमस्खलन हुआ जो उनको लगभग एक किलोमीटर दूर बहा ले गया जिसमें वे शहीद हो गए। उनका पार्थिव शरीर 20 मार्च 2016 को 12 फीट बर्फ के नीचे से निकाला गया। सिपाही विजय कुमार एक बहादुर और प्रतिबद्ध सैनिक थे जिन्होंने देश के सेवा में अपने प्राण न्योछावर कर दिए।

There are many more stories regarding the patriotism of Indian people & many more monuments to glorify that too. Standing at this place all those stories made me remember how privileged & honored the Indians feel when it comes to talk about their patriotism.
